You may ask: what the hell is this guy doing at his job? I will try to update this blog at least at a weekly base with some information regarding the current projects I’m working on. At least in a overview level.
At first of all – my primary job: I’m one out of five senior network engineers working as a perfect team for an semiconductor company located in Dresden, Germany. (there are not too many of such companies in Germany – you should be able to find out, which one it is ;-) Half of my job is project work (LAN/WAN design,implementation and network security e.g. firewalls,NAC…) and the other half is daily operations. Both parts have their interesting sides – but the project work is the really challenging part. Its always the case of bringing the customer requirement of „I want all“, together with the security requirements, company policies and budget together.
My daily jobs mainly related to Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and VPN gateways, Juniper and Checkpoint firewalls and if nothing commercial fits into the requirements than Linux will do the job. So its a really wide range for me to cover…
