The german Bundestag signed today (9.11.07) a very controversial discussed law for data rentention of all telecommunication within Germany. From 2008 onwards all telecommunicaton information of the whole german population will be stored for a period of 6 month. It will be possible to trace who has contacted whom via telephone, mobile phone or e-mail for a period of six months. In the case of mobile calls or text messages via mobile phone, the user’s location will also be logged. Thanks to the „democratic“ parties CDU, CSU and SPD, which initiated and approved this.
Very frustration especially in this case is that the Bundertag released/signed this new law, ignoring protests and ongoing demonstrations at big cities of germany. The Bundestag also ignored the preparation of an prosecution at the Bundersverfassunggericht against this new law. Already more than 7000 german inhabitats signed this prosecution, which is the biggest one in german history.
If you are also against this new law there are some options what can you do now:
- Take part at the Verfassungsklage gegen die Vorratsdatenspeicherung and sign the prosecution.
- Write a email to the Bundespräsidenten. He has to sign finally the law and he has also the last chance to stop this undemocratic nonsence.
The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.
